Smoking, drinking and eating too much are occupational hazards for the business traveller but not for those who check in at the E-Inn Hitech Star in Bangalore’s Electronics City district.
The 252-room business hotel has opened on the city’s Hosur Road and has banned both smoking and drinking alcohol on the premises. In addition, the hotel’s restaurants only use organic vegetarian produce from neighbouring farming communities.
The hotel, whose motto is “We make business a healthy affair”, has no centralised air conditioning as it says these are prone to collect dust which can affect allergy-prone guests. E-Inn is the concept of property firm Akkayya Consultancy Services.
Room rate at the hotel is US$125 a night for a single room with free breakfast.
There is increasing interest in hotels that are compliant with sharia law, like the E-inn. InterContinental Hotels plans to open a sharia-compliant Holiday Inn in Dubai at the end of 2008.
